Another illustration of Rik’s (and Rod Coenen’s) ability to have fun with situations
Inasmuch as my sculpting resulted from the visit to a Scottsdale art gallery and my methodology was that of California artist Woods Davy, I had joked with our friend and neighbor, Rod Coenen that I could be sued by Woods Davy. Now Rod had been the architect for a number of Lawrence University projects including the Seeley Mudd Library and the Buchanan Kiewit Center so he knew about Rik Warch. He represented himself as Chert Cheatem of the Dewey, Cheatem and Howe Law firm and sent a letter to me indicating that I would be receiving a summons at the opening of my “Stones in the Mudd” show. Rik responded on my behalf as Al E. Yoop, a partner in the firm of Yoop, Yoop and Oyvey. Thus begins a long exchange of hilarious correspondence between the two plus some involvement of the Internal Revenue Service. To see how much enjoyment these two had in exercising their skills, read the correspondence:
Hi John,
It has been a lot of fun reviewing your website. I am glad to know you are doing better. Time for another hole in 1 and maybe even a 77 score. xo, Judy
